Nevada Gaming Sales Surpass $1B For 7th consecutive Month

According to the Nevada State Game Control Board’s latest monthly earnings report, casinos in the state earned more than $1.6 billion in winning revenue during the month of September. The latest figures mean that casinos have earned $1 billion in straight wins.

September was 41% higher than the same period in 2021, although casinos were operating under some restrictions at the time due to the global pandemic.

Las Vegas Strip casinos rose 80% to $640 million from September 2020, while the entire Clark County area recorded more than $1 billion. This was a little over 10% increase from the same period in 2019, before pandemic-related restrictions were imposed on casinos.

Reno’s casinos reported an increase of about 10% year-over-year, generating revenue of just over $62.7 million for the month. Meanwhile, South Lake Tahoe Casino reported September sales of $5.6 million, down significantly from $24.8 million reported for the same period in 2020. However, the decline was attributed to large-scale evacuations of the area due to wildfires that devastated the area from late August to early September.

Nevada’s Licensed Sportsbook had a successful month, with operators reporting a 37% increase from the same period in 2020. Michael Lawton, chief economic analyst at the control panel, told local media:

“Strong market-wide demand, continued rebounding in leisure travel, and the return of special events and entertainment continued to drive the game’s victory beyond 2019 levels.”
