‘Hwang Sun-hong Ho’s 2nd New Beginning’ Daejeon completes coaching staff…Pohang to host returning coach

Daejeon Hana Citizen has announced the appointment of a new coaching staff to assist head coach Hwang Sun-hong. The new coaching staff includes Head Coach Myung Jae-yong, GK Coach Kim Il-jin, and Physical Coach Park Sung-gyun.

Coach Myung Jae-yong played for Jeonbuk Hyundai University from 1997 to 2002, and after retiring, he began his coaching career as the head coach of Suncheon Masan Middle School. Since 2014, he has been a full-time coach at the Korea Football Association, serving as the U-19 national team coach. Since 2017, he has been the head coach of Ulsan HD under Kim Do-hoon, helping the club win the 홀덤사이트 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL).

After serving as the head coach of Singapore’s prestigious Ryan City Sellers (2021-2022), he was most recently the head coach of the U-23 national team under Hwang Sun-hong. He helped the team win gold at last year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou, and in March, he replaced Hwang at the 2024 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-23 Championship, where they won the title.

Goalkeeping coach Kim Il-jin played for the Pohang Steelers from 1993 to 2000 and began his coaching career as a goalkeeping coach at Pohang Steel Middle School. From 2009 to 2015, he was Pohang’s goalkeeping coach, helping the club win the K League Classic, the ACL, and the FA Cup.

Park served as Suwon Samsung U-15 Physical Coach (2016-2017) and Yanbian Fooder Physical Coach (2018-2019) in China, before becoming the Vietnam National Team Physical Coach under Park Hang-seo in 2019. Under Park, he helped the team win a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games, reach the quarterfinals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, and qualify for the first World Cup finals in the history of Vietnamese soccer. He also worked with Hwang Sun-hong as the U-23 national team physical coach.

Daejeon Hana is looking forward to a positive synergy with Head Coach Myung Jae-yong, GK Coach Kim Il-jin, and Physical Coach Park Sung-gyun, all of whom have years of experience working with Hwang Sun-hong on the field.

Daejeon Hana, which has been rebranded with Hwang’s colors during the A-Match break, will host Pohang in the 17th round of the Hana Bank K-League 2024 at Pohang Steel Yard on June 15 at 6 p.m. For Hwang Sun-hong, it will be his comeback match against his hometown team.

Daejeon Hana ended a seven-match winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Daegu FC in the 16th round. Against Pohang, they will be looking for their first win in 14 years. Daejeon Hana’s last win against Pohang was on April 24, 2010.
