‘Jeju’s strong winds will blow me away’…KLPGA’s ‘Daesae’ Lee sees quintuplet

Lee Ye-won, who leads the Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour in money, points and stroke average with three wins, was caught in strong winds on Jeju Island.

Lee made a quadruple bogey on the fifth hole (par-3) in the second round of the KLPGA Tour’s SK networks-Seoul Economic Ladies Classic at Finks Golf Club (par-72) in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, on Sunday.

She shot two more strokes on the par-3 fifth than the so-called “onion” six.

A quintuple bogey, which is five strokes more than the stipulated number, is rarely seen in professional tournaments.

Even more so, it’s hard to believe that a player of Lee’s caliber could pull off such a feat.

Lee is one of the best iron players on the KLPGA Tour.

She is ranked third in green hit percentage, a measure of iron shot accuracy, and ninth in par-3 green hit percentage.

Lee, who has the best stroke average, also ranks fourth in stroke average on par-3s off the tee (2.93).

As good as Lee is with his irons, he has to deal with Jeju’s strong and unrelenting winds.

The fifth hole at Finks Golf Club has a pond right in front of the green, and if you don’t hit your shot well, you’re likely to end up in the pond.

The distance is 150 meters, so a long iron is required, but if the wind is blowing, a driver may be necessary.

Lee’s third shot off the tee was in the water after a penalty, and his fifth shot after a second penalty was in the rough after failing to reach the green.

His sixth shot from the rough also fell short of the green, and he holed out with one putt after reaching the green in seven attempts.

Lee shook his head, saying, “I lost my mind.”

After four bogeys, Lee still made four birdies.

Her 5-over-par 77 dropped her to a tie for 19th place (1-over 145), but she is still six shots off the lead and can still make a run at the title over the next two days.

Lee wasn’t the only player to lose strokes after her tee shot on the fifth hole went into the water.

Cho Hye-rim, Park Hyun-kyung, Bae Bae-hyun, and Ahn Ji-hyun also put their tee shots in the water on the fifth hole.

Cho made a quadruple bogey, while Park, Hyun Kyung Park, Bae, and Ahn lost two strokes. 파워볼분석
