Tanguy Ndombele (France, 27) has said goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur after being released by the club amid a ‘cheating’ issue.

“Tottenham Hotspur have terminated the contract of Tanguy Ndombele by mutual consent,” the club announced on its official social media on June 12 (KST), “The contract will end on June 30th. We wish Ndombele the best of luck for the future,” and officially announced his release.

Ndombele, who has been labeled a “cheat” and has been embroiled in recent release issues, joined Tottenham in 2019 for a club-record £63 million ($106 million) transfer fee.

But Ndombele hasn’t lived up to his £110 million price tag. Ndombele’s record at Tottenham is just 10 goals and nine assists in 91 games. Since his arrival in the 19-20 season, he has missed time due to injury and has often been seen to be unable to fully integrate into the team.

He was criticized by former manager Jose Mourinho for his tackles, interceptions, and other performances against Burnley that season. In his debut season, he scored two goals and provided four assists in 29 games.

He bounced back in the 20-21 season with six goals and four assists in 46 games, but he fell out of favor afterward due to his off-field behavior.

He has since bounced around on loan to Olympique Lyonnais, SSC Napoli, and Galatasaray SK. He was also criticized by fans for bingeing on hamburgers and other fast food during the season, and for his lack of physical fitness.

Initially, Ndombele’s contract was set to run until 토토사이트 June of the following year, but Tottenham decided to terminate his contract early with a compensation package of around KRW 9 billion.

When news of Ndombele’s termination broke, fans flocked to Tottenham’s official social media accounts to express their outrage, leaving comments such as “Worst and most expensive signing in club history,” “Does he deserve a goodbye,” and “He should move to Hamburger FC.”

“My adventure in the best of London has come to an end,” Ndombele said on social media on Wednesday, adding, “I have learned so much during my time at Tottenham. I would like to thank my supporters for their unwavering support and wish them the best of luck for the future,” he wrote in his farewell message.
