Amerista Casino Kansas City Opens Parking Lot
Amerista Casino Inc. announced on June 4 that it will open three of its five floors with a 2,660-space new parking structure in Amerista Kansas City. Originally scheduled to open in July, the parking lot is connected to existing casinos and entertainment facilities by enclosed climate corridors. The remaining two floors are expected to open sooner than scheduled later this month. “We are excited to provide this amenities to our Kansas City guests and wanted to open three of its five floors to improve comfort and ease of access to the facilities,” said Craig H. Nielsen, president and CEO of Amerista. “The garage has taken us one step further toward our goal of providing guests with the most convenient and dynamic gaming and entertainment experience in the Kansas City area.”
The state-of-the-art parking lot includes speed ramps designed to provide direct access to all five floors without having to drive each floor. The garage was designed by Walker Parking Consultants, one of the first Denver-based parking lot designers, and built by Taylor-Kelly, a major general contractor in Kansas City. In addition, approximately 60 percent of the garage construction work was done by the MBE/WBE Construction Company.
In June 2000, Amerista Kansas City committed to building 2,200 parking lots by June 2003 at the latest, with a $20 million investment in the Missouri Game Commission. After completing the parking lot in June 2002 at a cost of about $23 million, Amerista would fulfill that promise more than a year ago and build more space than is needed.
