The Black Oak Casino Resort awarded $3,300 to the new Diana J. White Cancer Institute in Sonora, California, to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This donation was made Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, as part of a check presentation for the organization.
“Cancer is a disease that affects many people, so it is a joy for us to be able to support an organization that is doing so much to help affected people within our community,” said Ron Patel, CEO of Black Oak Casino Resort. “The Diana J. The raised money came as part of the Black Oak Casino Resort’s Play for the Cure Free Slot Tournament. The 24-hour tournament, which ran from Saturday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 14, saw participants compete for $10,000 in shares. $1 was given to all players who participated in the tournament to raise donations.
As part of the tournament, players were able to play for five minutes and build up the highest points. The top 16 players then received a portion of the prize money. In addition, a lottery was held every hour for someone to receive $112 in free play, a number that represents the estimated number of men and women who die from breast cancer every day.
