‘If Ten Haag is out’ Man Utd will turn to current Inter boss

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s (83) recommendation for the job would be former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri (57) if the Red Devils sack manager Eric ten Haag (54), according to reports.

The UK’s GiveMeSports cited Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport as saying on Feb. 2 (Korea time) that former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is recommending that the club should hire Allegri if Van Gaal is sacked.

Last season, United finished eighth in the Premier League. This led most pundits and fans to believe that new United owner Jim Ratcliffe would sack Van Gaal.

But that changed when van Gaal led United to the top of the FA Cup, beating Manchester City. United opted to reappoint Van Gaal. However, the club’s shaky start to the season has put them back in the managerial conversation.

There are a number of names that have been floated in the local media as possible replacements for Van Gaal. These range from former England manager Gareth Southgate, to chief coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, and Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi.

However, Sir Ferguson has recommended a new candidate.

Allegri is the former Juventus manager. Massimiliano was fired by Juventus at the end of last season and is looking for a job.

Allegri is one of the most experienced managers in Serie A. He has six Serie A titles between AC Milan and Juventus. He has also reached the UEFA Champions League final twice.

Allegri has been considered for the United job several times in the past. 메이저사이트 “He can create the basic framework of the team, just like Ferguson did in the past when he overhauled United’s defense and made them one of the best teams in England.”

Sir Ferguson is a legendary manager who led Manchester United for 27 years. He is considered one of the most successful managers in the history of English soccer. He won the Premier League 13 times, culminating with a treble in 1999. In total, he collected 38 trophies and was knighted.

Although Ferguson retired in 2013, he still continues to influence the club as a technical advisor. As such, United’s hierarchy would never ignore a recommendation from Ferguson.

Nevertheless, United’s hierarchy is more interested in Inzaghi than Allegri.

Inzaghi has been in charge of Inter since 2021 and is highly regarded, having won the Serie A title in 2023-2024 and reached the Champions League final in 2022-2023.

However, Mourinho’s contract with Inter runs until the summer of 2027, making it difficult for United to secure a replacement. In contrast, Allegri is a free agent and could be brought in at any time.

Ten Haag’s fate will be decided in the next three games. United face Porto in the Europa League on April 4, followed by Aston Villa and Brentford on April 6 and 19, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ji-Sung Park’s “best friend” and United legend Patrice Evra claimed a few months ago that “Allegri is in contact with United” and that “Allegri is better than Sir Ferguson”.

“He always knows before the game how it’s going to go,” Evra said, adding, ”In the 2015 Champions League round of 16 second leg, he predicted everything, and I thought he was crazy.”
