SON Decisive Power NO1 Again Tops Goal Rankings With More Goals

Son Heung-min Tottenham has once again been recognized as having the highest decision-making ability in the English Premier League. Among EPL players this season, Son has scored more goals than expected xG, which means the probability that a shot can lead to a goal. Although different statistical media showed slightly different values of xG, Son remains the most decisive striker, easily exceeding expectations.

According to Football 365, a British media outlet, on the 7th, Son ranked No. 1 in the list of the best finishers in the 2023-24 EPL. Son’s expected goal this season is 7.7, but he scored 13 goals in the actual EPL to +5.3 goals. “According to the data, Son had to score eight goals this season, but he has scored as many as 13 goals,” the media said.

In this season, Son played in 23 matches 22 starts of the EPL and attempted 57 shots, of which 27 headed towards the inside of the goal. Statistics show that out of 57 shots, Son had an expected goal of 7.7. However, he actually scored more than five goals than this. This means that Son has displayed his scoring ability even in situations where scoring is difficult based on probability. 안전놀이터

Son Heung-min’s expected goal was only 0.09 when he left footed shot against Bournemouth in December last year, but he led to a goal.

Following Son, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham also scored 14 goals, five more than his expected nine. Son is tied for sixth in the EPL goalscoring list, and Bowen is tied for fourth.

Following them, Diogo Jota of Liverpool scored nine goals, 4.6 more than the 4.6 expected. Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton also ranked fourth. Hwang Hee-chan has scored 6.3 goals in this season and 10 goals that actually shook the net, posting +3.7.

Elling Holan Manchester City, the EPL’s leading scorer, was found to have missed many decisive opportunities with 18 goals even though his expected score reached 20.9.

Another statistical news outlet, “Huscoord Dotcom,” also announced the best 11 players by position, with Son proudly topping the list. Son, who plays on the left wing, scored 4.76 more goals than he expected. The news outlet set Son’s “xG” value for this season at 8.24, slightly higher than that of Football 365. However, the gap between “xG” and “actual score” of 4.76, was definitely No. 1.19 points higher than that of Jarrod Bowen, who came in second.

Son Heung-min, who has been recognized for his outstanding decision-making ability, now plans to devote the rest of the season to reclaim fourth place in the league where tickets for the European Champions League are at stake.
