YANG JI HYUN SEEKS NINTH CAREER GOLDEN GLOVE AND EIGHTH AS A CATCHER

Yang Yang-ji (36, Dusan Bears) will attempt to win his ninth career Golden Glove and eighth as a catcher.The 2023 KBO Golden Glove Awards will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the COEX Auditorium in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.A total of 81 players were nominated for the Golden Glove across 10 positions.Yang is the favorite to win the catcher category, where he hit .305 with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs this season. He was also named the winner of the KBO’s new Defensive Player of the Year award for catchers.If Yang wins the golden glove, he will become the second player to win the Golden Glove, behind 10-time Golden Glove winner Lee Seung-yeop of Doosan.

Yang, who is tied for first place in the catcher category with Kim Dong-soo of the Seoul Giants with seven wins, will also set a new record for most wins by a catcher if he wins his eighth Golden Glove this year.SSG Landers third baseman Choi Jeong-jeong had won eight Golden Gloves up until last year and was nominated again this year.However, this year’s third baseman Golden Glove honor will likely go to Noh Si-hwan (Hanwha Eagles).He batted .297 with 29 doubles and 87 home runs, including a career-high on-base percentage (.548), but he was even more impressive as he led the league in home runs (31) and RBIs (101).Noh is 슬롯게이밍 seeking his first individual Golden Glove.
