Brooklyn Replaces Coach Jacques Vaughn

The Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA) replaced coach Jacques Vaughan (49) ahead of the start of the second half.

Local media, including ESPN, reported on Monday the replacement of Bohn. The Brooklyn club also made an official announcement.

Vaughan joined Brooklyn as a coach during the 2016-17 season. Since the firing of coach Kenny Atkinson in March 2020, he has gone 7-3 as acting coach.

Afterwards, Steve Nash, who took over as coach, stepped down after seven games in the 2022-23 season and took the helm again.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving left the team during the season, but they led the team to the playoffs with 43 wins and 32 losses during the coach’s tenure.

This time, he officially became the coach. However, he finished the first half of the 2023-24 season with 21 wins and 33 losses and 11th place in the Eastern Conference, and was dismissed in the end.

In the last game of the first half against the Boston Celtics on the 14th, he showed lethargy by losing 86-136 and 50 points.

In a statement, general manager Sean Marks said, “This was a very difficult decision. However, I thought it was the best choice for the team to move forward. For the past eight years, Bon has represented our team by leading by example and with a high dignity. He has constantly inspired our team with a positive heart and passion, and he has played a role in connecting the players and staff.” He thanked him while explaining why he was dismissed.

Bonn issued a statement saying, “It was an honor to work as a coach,” and thanked team members including owner Cho Chai.

“I hope that every individual I dealt with felt respected and valued. Please know that I put everything into it every day. I’ll move on to the next chapter. Amor Fati, love your destiny,” he said.

Meanwhile, ESPN quoted a source as saying Brooklyn will take over as acting coach Kevin Ollie.

Ollie, who played 13 seasons in the NBA, led UConn (University of Connecticut) to the NCAA championship in 2014 and has been an overtime elite for the past two years before joining the Brooklyn coaching staff this season. 토토사이트
