China eases family registration restrictions to boost local economy.

China has decided to relax its family registration system in an effort to boost local economic development.

According to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference yesterday (March 3) to announce measures to ease urban settlement conditions.

The measures include canceling restrictions on obtaining family registration in cities with a population of three million or less to allow anyone to settle freely, and easing the conditions for obtaining family registration in cities with a population of three to five million.

China has been trying to curb population migration as a way of social control, making it difficult for people to move from one place to another once they have obtained a household registration in their birthplace, but these restrictions have been lifted.

“The policy will facilitate cross-provincial population movement and play an important role in regional economic development,” Tsinghua University economics professor Li Daokui explained to Huanguo Shibo.

The Ministry of Public Security also announced improvements to the visa issuance system for foreigners, including the decision to issue visas on arrival at ports for foreigners traveling to China for trade and entrepreneurship if they fail to apply for a visa abroad, and to issue multiple visas valid for three years for foreigners who travel to China frequently for business.

The government will also discontinue the system of keeping passports for about two weeks when a foreigner applies for a residence permit, 먹튀검증토토사이트 which is expected to eliminate the inconvenience of not being able to leave the country during the renewal period of a residence permit.
